The Pillar 2024 Revision

The last of the 3 revision I did for my portfolio class. This one also being one of the most recent projects having been made as a final for Compositing for the semester just prior. Because of this I couldn’t find as much to revise – within reason. I would have loved to reanimate the monster as I messed up and animated it at 24FPS when the reference footage was at 30FPS and it messed up some timing. I was able to fix this quickly with a time remapping but part of me wanted to reanimate it. I just didn’t have time this semester to do that when what was there still works fine.

Original Project 2023

The biggest change was the intro sequence with replacing the sky footage with my own and changing the colors in the intro. The rest were minor fixes here and there and some timing adjustments. The original project was made in the span of about 2 weeks. Bare in mind that the monster model I had it made like a year prior and just had to improve the rig for animation.

Oh! And the addition of an intro card! I think rendering that spinning pillar took longer than the whole monster animation because I did a silly. I had the lighting change animated as a part of the scene instead of rendering 2 different version with the lighting change and fading one in over the other. It when from 11 seconds a frame to render to about 1 minuet a frame when the lighting change started. Lesson learned haha!

Bonus content of the original green screen shot. I recorded this solo in a room that probably about 8ft x 12ft, I could not see what I was doing, and had to do about a 30 second costume check prior to each take. I ended up with 10 takes in total and that room got very hot!

(Thankfuly that seam between the green screens did not cause me issues!)
