2024 Year End Summary
That time yet again. Over all 2024 was a rough year in many ways, I graduated in the spring after months of nearly non-stop work. I bit off way more than I should have with my honors project and I had no option but to just commit as I needed the credits to graduate. I ended up with burn out for a good chunk of the rest of the year, it quite honestly didn’t start to clear until late November, only to be taken over by another issue in December.
Over all it was rough but I’m working on healing from it.
In addition to graduating I took on a metal jewelry smithing class as well as got back into reading. Both have been great and I’m taking another jewlery smithing class this spring, looking forward to that one!
This year was pretty slim because of my art-block and rough mental state, that said, I’m glad for what I did make.
January

Low Contrast Burr
As far as finished illustrations goes, this is one of sorta 2 I did for January. The other one being some silly sticker Ideas.
That isn’t to say I don’t like this one, I do quite like it, one of the things I made this year that I still fondly look back at!
February

February sketch
It was slim pickings for this month, no finished illustrations. When that happens I usually go to my sketch dumps and even that was slim. I think at this point I was getting really into the thick of it with my graduating semester. I do like this sketch, it has feeling that still resonates with me.
March

Winter Ant Queen
I love this drawing so much, this was an easy pick. I love everything about this image, and I love these ants <3
The colony I keep of them are currently chilling in the fridge over winter.
April
Carrion Raptor – Animation
While the model may have been made a year prior (also feature in my end of year summary). This animation was completed in April! its quite simple but my first time compositing animation onto real footage.
May

Honors Project
I was a little torn on this one and the drawing of CapsLock that I did but ultimately I have to give this one to myself. I spent a whole semester working on this nearly non-stop and delt with the subsequent burn out for the rest of the year from it. I love what I made with this one and need to come back and do something with these models.
June

Edgy Dark
Only drawing in June. I did make a reference or two for art fight. I genuinely cannot remember what happened in June this year. Apparently I barely played any games too this month? Its just weird trying to reflect back and not remember anything.
July

Karo & Farleigh (ArtFight)
July, the month of art fight. So many great options to pick from. I’m ultimately picking this one as it feels like it has the most creative depth to it. The characters are from a friend of mine’s comic called “Cry Havoc”.
August

Rouge
Slim pickings again, now with the burnout of ArtFight. During this time I made a pearlescent unicorn character named Rouge and painted this bust of them.
September
3D Ant Animation
Ok digging in my files I’m PRETTY SURE this was made in September. Slim pickings still but I do quite love this project. I hope I can expand on it further in the future.
October
Jazz Worm – Animation
SLIMEY THE WORM YEAHHH. This animation was so much fun to make and I still love how it turned out. Learned a lot with this one and had fun in the process.
November

Keep it up
November was a really rough month. Alot of things building up to then. I didn’t draw or create much of anything most of that month. But later on I made this for myself to support myself, I remember it was fun to make.
December

Chasing
December quickly became a very stressful month for me, dealing with a lot of complex feelings I started getting very little sleep. This drawing ended up encapsulating some of those feelings. I really really love this drawing and was super happy to see on December 31st, It got spotlighted on Sheezy for every one visiting the sight to see <3
This year was a rough one, but I am looking forward to what next year will bring in terms of my own creativity.
I have many plans:
- I want to finally get Minotaur into page production and also there’s a good chance the name will be changing now.
- I want to get myself to a more financially stable position with a regular job.
- I want to work on smaller short comics to publish digitally (I have a couple in mind already).
- I want to redo my living space to be a space I enjoy living in.
Only time will tell for what the next year holds.
Here we go I guess
Onward to 2025!
